Terms of use
Last updated: 10 July 2026
These terms govern the use of the macDNIe application for macOS and of the macdnie.com website. By installing or using the app you accept them. They are written to be read — if anything is unclear, write to us.
1.Who is behind this
macDNIe is a product by nexoapex. Contact: macdnie@nexoapex.com.
2.Unofficial product
macDNIe is a third-party, unofficial application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by the Dirección General de la Policía, the Ministry of the Interior or the Government of Spain. macDNIe does not issue certificates and does not provide trust services: it is a tool with which you use, on your Mac, the DNIe and the certificates the Spanish administration has already issued to you.
3.What macDNIe is and what you need
macDNIe lets you read the data and photograph on your DNIe, identify yourself with it on online services, and sign documents electronically (PAdES, CAdES, XAdES). To use it you need a Mac running macOS 13 or later, a compatible contact card reader, a working DNIe and its PIN. Operation depends on elements outside nexoapex's control — the state of your card and its certificates, government services, browsers and macOS itself — which may change without notice.
4.License and purchases
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on the devices tied to your Apple account, under these terms and under Apple's standard licensed application EULA that governs App Store apps.
- There are two plans, both via native Apple In-App Purchase: the annual subscription (€10/year), which renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the period from your App Store settings, and the lifetime license (€150, one-time), which unlocks the app permanently for your Apple account.
- Payments, refunds and billing are handled by Apple under its Media Services terms: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes. "Restore Purchases" is available in the app.
- You may not resell the license, circumvent the app's unlock, or use the app to provide services the law reserves for qualified trust service providers.
5.Your responsibility: the signature is yours
An electronic signature made with your DNIe certificates binds you legally, just like your handwritten signature. Therefore:
- Read every document before signing it. macDNIe performs the signature you order; deciding what you sign is up to you.
- Guard your card and your PIN. Do not share them; you are responsible for how they are used.
- Check the recipient's requirements. Some bodies demand specific signature formats or profiles; make sure the one you choose is the one they ask for.
6.No warranty and limitation of liability
macDNIe is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, nexoapex does not warrant that the app is error-free or that it will work uninterrupted with every combination of card, reader, browser or government service, and is not liable for indirect damages arising from its use — for instance, a filing not submitted on time. If you are a consumer, nothing above limits the rights that Spanish and European law grants you and that cannot be waived, including the statutory guarantees applicable to digital content and services.
7.Intellectual property
The application, this site, their design and their copy belong to nexoapex or its licensors. "DNIe" and the names of public bodies belong to their owners and are used here solely to describe the product's compatibility.
8.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example, when the app gains new features. The current version, with its date, will always be published here; changes do not apply retroactively.
9.Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute will be submitted to the courts determined by law; if you act as a consumer, to the courts of your place of residence in Spain.
